| below is some info about an art show that i'll be featured in this saturday in atlanta:

"with the spring season underway and summer right around the corner, its the perfect time for a new t-shirt. You're in luck, because this saturday night, the Beep Beep gallery is hosting a one-night-only spring t-shirt showcase featuring all kinds of shirt created by some of Atlanta's finest designers, artists and printmakers. There will be some unique, one-of-a-kind tees as well as prints in many sizes for sale plus some custom shirts which aren't for sale but feature really great art... artists and presenters include Epidemik Coalition, BLINK, Black Black label, Charstarr, Sam Mitchell, Steven Westdahl, Natasha Pantelides, Mike Germon and Rebecca White, Leuwam Tesfai, Evereman, Heather McPherson, Destin Jacobus, and more... the exhibit opens at 8pm and goes until midnight - and again this event is saturday night only so you'll be able to buy a shirt and wear it out of the building - we think it's going to be fun... - BB3"

it's funny how life comes at you in waves of interesting surprises and changes. i've been thinking about the providence of god quite a bit recently. i don't think i'll ever know to what degree things happen in 'chance' or 'good or bad luck'... but i do know that god above watches over me and uses all of lifes situations to accomplish his work. through both the easy times and the hard times... and ecspecially in the confusing times, he has given me peace; a comfort that honestly doesn't make sense, but it's a comfort that can only come from he who created all things.
after being without a car for a few weeks now, i finally bought myself a honda passport suv from carmax. i had been looking around at some scion xb's and some other things, but after really pricing things out and test driving things, i found the best thing for the money within my budget. yay.
i'm settled in to my new office now at lithia springs UMC. i'm really excited about being here although i'm definately going to miss all my rad kids at grace. anyway i gotta run, today i'm going to the apple store at lenox to pick up my new black macbook laptop (about time huh?). peace and blessings, DS10 | | |

I’m writing each of you this letter
because there is some important news that I must tell you. I could have told
you in words, but I’m not quite sure that my emotions would have allowed me to
communicate the very specific thoughts that I want to tell you.
For several months now, there have
been many people praying for Sarah and I in regards to our finances and being
able to move forward in our life through marriage this October. Since last July
I have been working here at Grace for a “part-time” salary and trying to
supplement my income by several part-time jobs. Sarah has also had some
difficulty over the past year and just this past week has finally been blessed
with a new job working for Christian Dior as a makeup artist.
Several weeks ago, a church very
close to the area where Sarah and I both live contacted me and offered me a
fulltime position as the director of their youth ministry. After many many days
of prayer and deep consideration, I believe that this opportunity has been
given to both Sarah and I as an answer to our prayers.
As of Easter Sunday, I will be
joining the staff of Lithia Springs
United Methodist
Church, in Lithia
Springs, GA. Next Sunday,
(“Palm Sunday”) will be my last Sunday morning with you all here at Grace.
Though I will not be able to be with you in the mornings and have not quite
figured out what to do about our evening youth time, I am still committed to
you all as both a mentor and most of all a friend. I am still going to be
planning events and special activities for us here, for the months to come, so
let me encourage you and assure you that both Sarah and I will remain familiar
faces to you all. Even Though we will
not have as regular of times together, I still look forward to each time we
will have together. In some ways, this new opportunity will allow me to be more
effective and more focused in my ministry, and friendship to each of you.
Many of you have no idea how much I
look forward to seeing you each week. You are all wonderful friends of mine who
I cherish and admire in a very special way. I hope that you may know how
honored I am to have met each of you. Thanks for the chance to be a part of
your lives.
Looking forward, I am excited to be
able to still see you all and plan some very cool things for the summer months
ahead. I’ll need your help in this transition for us all. I have requested that
in the time to come, I will be able to be part of the search committee to find
the best fit person to come and help things along. As I have said since the
beginning, this youth ministry belongs to all of you, not me. No matter what
ever happens in life, remember that your faith is your responsibility to
pursue. Become the disciples for Christ that you are called to be. Shake things
up, and let love define your character. Not achievements.
I love each and every one of you
more than you will ever know. -Destin

| the other night sarah and i were watching tyra, and the show was about various celebrities who have delt with racial profiling and stereotyping. tyra put in her 2 cents to talk about being the "token black model", and some others said the same, such as margaret cho talking about her experience and frustration dealing with asian-american stereotyping. everything seemed quite okay until cho said, "i dont know what it is about all the white people... they just dont get it. i wish i could be white... well, just for a weekend so that i could relax and not worry about anything". tyra agreed.
how ironic. a talk show about racial stereotyping and yet we get labeled as the naive and worryfree racist whites. keep it up tyra. you bring hope to the cause.
